The work of LSA and its staff has been recognized by an impressive range of organizations, including the US Department of Environmental Protection, The United Way of New York City, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Robin Hood Foundation, Mount Sinai Hospital and the New York Daily News.
Recent Awards
On October 29, 2008, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation announced that Ray Lopez, LSA Family Health Service’s Environmental Program Manager, is one of ten Americans who will receive its Community Health Leaders Award for 2008. Ray is being honored for his work as part of LSA’s Family Asthma Program which was developed more than ten years ago to respond to East Harlem’s epidemic rates of asthma.
On June 20, 2008, LSA was honored with The Legal Aid Society / Robin Hood Foundation Legal Services Initiative Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition and appreciation of distinguished performance as a partner.
Also in June, LSA’s Executive Director, Sr. Judy Garson, and LSA board member Barbara Brenner, were both honored by The Human Services Consortium of East Harlem for their three decades of commitment to the families of East Harlem.
