Community Adult Education

LSA's center-based Community Adult Education Program makes it possible for adults to get basic education skills they didn't have a chance to acquire before.

The Community Adult Education Program offers Basic Education in Spanish--a collaboration with New York University's Plazas Comunitarias program and the Mexican Consulate. Students can take classes in basic literacy and mathematics and receive a certificate upon successful completion of the coursework. Adults may also learn to speak English in our English as a Second Language classes and take the basic Computer Literacy class we offer for adults too.

Partnerships are important at LSA and we are collaborating with the Mayor's Office for Adult Education to provide English language conversation groups. And now we are members of an educational partnership that is making it possible to create good new jobs. Through the Cooperative Worker Incubation Project LSA is part of a network of worker cooperatives around New York City. We give information and support to people who want to form their own partnerships to start cooperatively-run businesses and become worker-owners.
