The Early Childhood Program works with English and Spanish-speaking
families with children, ages birth to three, in a variety of settings.
The goal is to establish a trusting relationship with parents and
to work with them as partners, encouraging early parental participation
while monitoring infant/child development.
It is our belief that there is the potential for growth in all human beings.
This growth takes place through the development of a trusting and non-judgmental
relationship. It is our mission to work with the most vulnerable families and
their children by providing them with a physical and emotional environment
that will help maximize their growth. We remain with the family until there is
no longer any risk of developmental or emotional problems or until the family
and child are referred and connected to a more appropriate program.
There are three components of the Early Childhood Program at Little Sisters of
the Assumption Family Health Service. They consist of the Home Based Child Development
Program, the Toddler Nursery, and the Early Intervention Program.
Each of these programs is described in detail below.
EI - Early Intervention
Provides services for children who have been diagnosed with developmental
delays.
Home-Based Child Development
Families are served by early childhood specialists, who regularly
assess the children’s development. Parents receive counseling
and role modeling to help them understand their role in their children’s
development.
Toddler Nursery
Offers care for children participating in the Preventive Services
Program or the Early Intervention Program and provides an opportunity
for them to enhance their EI therapies, socialize with other children,
and apply skills they are learning.
