The Early Intervention Program

The first 3 years of a child's life contain hir or her most important developmental stages, often making the difference between a healthy childhood and one burdened with mental delays.

The Early Intervention Program provides service coordination and bilingual early intervention evaluations by highly-qualified full-time personnel and contract therapists. We also provide speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, special instruction, and play therapy to children under the age of 3 who need help meeting their developmental milestones.

As a family focused program, parents can receive social work, parent training, family counseling, and parent-child support groups. The program is funded through both private sources and funded and regulated by the NY State Department of Health and in NYC by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

These services combine to ensure that each child can be raised in a healthy and supportive environment.

Awards:

LSAFHS's Early Intervention program was awarded the Mental Hygiene Services Award in November, 2000 by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as the most outstanding EI program that year.
