Mothers Group

The three sections of the Mothers Group serve to teach parenting techniques and offer a chance for isolated mothers to become part of a supportive community.

Mothers Group I – Spanish

This group is offered for Spanish speaking pregnant women and mothers of children up to toddler age. A registered nurse leads classes for the 35 women currently registered. Emphasis is on child development and good parenting techniques. One benefit of this group is the support it offers to the mothers, who are often socially isolated.

English Language Mothers Group

This is a new group being formed by one of the home visitors who works with English speaking mothers. Ironically this is the most difficult group to engage because as English speakers there are other resources in the community available to them. Many also come from highly dysfunctional families and have difficulty keeping to a regular schedule. To succeed, we will try to determine what they feel a group might best be able to offer them.
